The Secret Thoughts of an Unlikely Convert

The Secret Thoughts of an Unlikely Convert
Books that simultaneously challenge my perspectives and comfort my soul don’t come around every day. The Secret Thoughts of an Unlikely Convert has recently done this in my life. This book traces Rosaria Butterfield' story of redemption and chronicles her transition from an outspoken homosexual feminist to a gospel believing wife. Her insights along the way were invaluable. With the objectivity that is inherent only in a newcomer, Rosaria was able to make me stop and consider how I approach specific areas and issues in my Christian life. While clearly this book is a tremendous help for anyone struggling with same-sex attraction, its value goes far beyond that singular issue. She skillfully flows in and out of numerous topics as she recounts her story: repentance, friendship, community, the predominate anti-intellectualism of the church, the use of scripture, isolationism, counseling, marriage, ministry, adoption, homeschooling, mercy ministry, conversion, prayer, and sin, are all discussed along the way. This book offers something, or many things, to every reader. Frankly I’m a better pastor and more compassionate man because I interacted with this resource. Do yourself a favor and buy a copy!
