Hi, this is John.

00:00:02

And we want to kick off the new year talking about the simplicity of Christianity or simple Christianity.

00:00:08

We have cluttered Christianity through all kinds of lists and requirements, there's all kinds of movements, and many people aren't quite sure what it is they're supposed to be doing or not doing.

00:00:19

Every week they show up to church, and there's a new requirement, there's a new list, they read a new book, they listen to a new podcast.

00:00:26

And what used to be simple when Jesus says, come to me and I will give you rest, now seems complicated.

00:00:32

Here are the different ways in which you must come to find rest.

00:00:36

Justin and I want to do our best to simplify this message, create a new foundation so that for the rest of this year, you can truly know what it means to rest in Jesus Christ.

00:00:45

We hope you enjoy simple Christianity.

00:01:12

We have with us Justin Perdue, pastor of Covenant Baptist Church in Chile, Asheville, North Carolina, and myself, John Moffat, I'm pastor of Grace Reform Church in Spring Hill, Tennessee.

00:01:23

That got up to 51 yesterday.

00:01:26

So, is that actually cold in Asheville right now?

00:01:29

Yeah, it's in the 30s.

00:01:30

It's actually a relatively mild morning, so not terribly, terribly bad today.

00:01:36

I talked with uh Jimmy yesterday and he said it was a high of 35.

00:01:39

They were really excited.

00:01:41

Yeah, we it's been a little chilly the last few days, it's been a strange winter, though.

00:01:45

It's been generally mild.
