Welcome to Theocast, Encouraging Weary Pilgrims to Rest in Christ.

00:00:15

Conversations about the Christian life from a reformed perspective.

00:00:20

Our hosts today are Justin Perdue, pastor of Covenant Baptist Church in Asheville, North Carolina, Jimmy Buehler, pastor of Christ Community Church in Wilmer, Minnesota.

00:00:31

And I'm John Moffat, pastor of Community Bible Church in Spring Hill, Tennessee.

00:00:36

Today is a little bit of a unique episode.

00:00:38

Jimmy, why don't you talk about what we're doing in episode zero.

00:00:41

Today is what we affectionately call episode zero.

00:00:45

It's where we get to help the listener understand who we are, what we're about, sort of the theological grid by which we see and understand things.

00:00:55

And so today on the podcast, you'll be able to get a really foundational view of Theocast.

00:01:01

So, Justin, you want to kick us off?

00:01:03

Yeah, happy to, bro.

00:01:04

So, here at Theocast, our tagline is encouraging weary pilgrims to rest in Christ, and we are sincere about that.

00:01:12

We really do believe that Jesus is the point of the Bible, that the Bible is not just a collection of stories.

00:01:20

It's certainly not a collection of moral fables and things like that.

00:01:24

It's not a handbook for godly living.

00:01:27

It is the story of God's great redemptive work, how He planned an eternity past to save a people, and how God the Son, who took on flesh, Jesus Christ, came to accomplish our redemption.

00:01:41

And we understand that he's accomplished everything that's necessary for our salvation.

00:01:46

And so we believe that Jesus is enough, and that the fundamental battle of the Christian life is to trust and rest and hope in Christ completely.

00:01:56

And so that's what we're going to be pointing people to always here on Theocast.

00:02:00

I think that's an interesting topic because as you think about this, nobody would really say in their church that Jesus isn't the point of the point.
