Satan, Did You Know?

January 24, 2024

Summary

Every year around Christmastime, Christians love to argue about the song “Mary, Did You Know?” That’s another conversation for another day. (Mary did know some things, but she didn’t know everything.) A more significant question is, “Satan, did you know?” Did you know that Christ was bruising your head at the cross? How much did Satan know of the gospel?

Every year around Christmastime, Christians love to fight about the song Mary or Judah.

00:00:08

The question really is: Satan, did you know?

00:00:14

Did you know that when Jesus hung there on the cross, that that was actually him crushing your head?

00:00:22

How much did Satan understand of the mystery of Christ and of the good news, the gospel?

00:00:27

He's smart.

00:00:28

Satan is.

00:00:29

He's powerful.

00:00:30

He's deceitful.

00:00:30

He's manipulative, but he is not omniscient.

00:00:33

And we're going to talk today about that reality and how Jesus won and was triumphant over the devil, triumphant over sin and the grave, and how we have an unshakable hope and confidence in Christ.

00:00:46

We hope this encourages you.

00:00:47

Stay tuned.

00:00:51

It's called pietism.

00:00:52

Have you ever felt like the curse in life is a heavy burden versus rest and joy?

00:00:58

That you wake up worrying about how well you're going to perform instead of thinking about what Christ has done for you.

00:01:04

It's dread versus joy, really.

00:01:06

That's pietism.

00:01:07

Pietism causes Christians to look in on themselves and find their hope, not in what Christ has done, but what they're doing.

00:01:16

And we have a little book for you.
