More Than Forgiven
February 19, 2025
Summary
Many believers struggle with doubts about whether they truly belong to Christ, often because their lives don’t look the way they want. Is Jesus only enough for the forgiveness of sins, or is there more to what He has accomplished in us? The answer is yes—He is better than you’ve ever imagined. He not only forgives and justifies but also works in us by His Spirit to sanctify us. Through our union with Him, we are safe, secure, justified, and being sanctified, and we will be with God forever. Today, Jon and Justin discuss union with Christ, based on Romans 6 and Justin’s new book, More Than Forgiven.

I trust that many of you out there who are listening to this podcast have had questions over the course of your life as to whether you're legitimately a believer and as to whether you are legitimately in the Lord
Jesus Christ.
And usually that's because your life does not look the way you want it to.
So, is Jesus only enough for the forgiveness of sins and being declared righteous?
Is he only enough for justification, or is there more to the Lord Jesus and what he has accomplished and is accomplishing in us.
The answer to that is yes, there is more.
He is better than you had ever heard him to be.
He's better than you think he is.
That he not only is the forgiveness of your sins and your righteousness, he is the one who is working in and through you by his spirit to sanctify you.
Through our union with him, we are safe and secure, we are justified, we're being sanctified, and we'll be with God forever.
John and I are going to have a conversation about union with Christ today, based upon Romans 6 and a book that might be coming out from Theocast.
We'll see.
Hope it encourages you.
Stay tuned.
Hey guys, this is Justin.
Maybe you know that you are forgiven because of Jesus Christ.
But you're wondering, what does Jesus have to do with my Christian life?
How is he involved in my sanctification, even?
Or is he concerned at all with the ways that I struggle and the way that my life goes up and down.
Is there any comfort for me in Jesus when it comes to all of that?
