The Danger of Self-Examination

The Danger of Self-Examination

Self-examination feels spiritual, but it can quietly turn cruel.

When you look inward to find peace, you will always find mixed motives, weak resolve, and unfinished obedience. The more closely you examine yourself, the louder the accusations become. Your conscience was never meant to be your savior.

Scripture never tells weary sinners to look deeper within. It tells them to look outside themselves. To Christ.

Faith is not strengthened by measuring your fruit. Assurance is not secured by monitoring your performance. Peace comes from fixing your eyes on what Christ has done, not on what you are still failing to do.

When self-examination replaces Christ-examination, faith shrinks, and fear grows. But when Christ is your focus, the soul rests.

Look away from yourself. Look to Christ.
