The measure of competency in the Christian life is neither by comparison nor mechanics, but desire. It is simple faith and uncomplicated duty. It is to “love” as Christ commanded and, thereby, fulfill the whole law.

The evangelical version of Christianity makes it nearly impossible to be a person of simple faith. We are overwhelmed by all of this detail and data we have to remember. It’s exhausting.
